Tenjin Matsuri–Osaka

The Tenjin Matsuri means Festival of the Gods and it takes place on July 24 and 25 as its main venue is the Tenman Temple in Osaka, this festival has been celebrated for more than a thousand years, it is the most famous festival in Osaka and is considered one of the most popular in all of Japan. Its main feature lies in its processions both by land and across the sea, as well as by its bonfires, fireworks in the Okawa River.

Mitama Matsuri – Tokio

This illuminated festival takes place in the Yasukuni Sanctuary, for four days thousands of lanterns are lit to illuminate the sanctuary. It is full of traditional food stalls that offer snacks all along the main street while theatrical performances and folk dances take place. Attendees generally wear traditional kimonos that are made of light cotton as well as yukata.
